The research carried out in the Hwange LTSER falls into three main research axes:
Axis 1: Dynamics and conservation of biodiversity
Axis 2: Eco-health in the socio-ecosystem
Axis 3: Human-environment relationships and environmental governance.
These three axes partially overlap and present common research. They also have in common the fact that a large part of their research aims to study the responses of the socio-ecosystem:
- to climate change
- to land sharing
- to surface water management
- to the abundance of the elephant population and its associated engineering.
These four elements are considered as cross-cutting themes of the three research axes.
